I hope someone can throw some light on this problem.
I have recently purchased a E 320 CDI, 2007.
I mainly drive on motorways and when I am at a roundabout and try to accelerate away, on occasions absolutely nothing happens for up to 3 seconds, then the turbo cuts in and you take off like a scalded cat. It does not always happen, but when it does, it pretty scary, especially when you are timing your entrance on to the roundabout in front of a lorry.
I am taking it to the dealer, but you can bet your bottom dollar it wont do it then.
Has anybody any suggestions

What do you mean by 'nothing happens until the turbo cuts in'. Are you expecting full torque beforehand or is the gearbox changing down into 1st gear?

A few possibilities; EGR valve sticking open, turbo vanes sticking, MAF sensor going duff.

Basically instead of the car gradually accelerating as you depress the accelerator, it does not accelerate at all for anything up to 3 seconds.
Thanks for input, will take it into dealer.

Looking at your car it might be the turbo being stuck in high power mode due to a melted connector.
It would be interesting to know the result.

I have a similar problem on my V6 CLK when I try to accelerate (usually onto a busy road!!) the engine 'falters' for just a couple of seconds then goes off like a scalded cat, could it be the MAF ??
any help appreciated
Rob
