Hello
I've just bought a 2001 ML270 and a noise has developed from around the ECU.It sounds like a computer game and continues for approx 2/3 mins after the engine has stopped and the vehicle locked. Is there a fan to keep the ECU cooled?
Any ideas?

There's certainly an ECU fan on our Vito that you can hear running for a few minutes after you switch off. So quite likely your ML has one too.

Hello & welcome, btw :)

Never heard that noise from my car, just the delicious sound of tick tick ping tick of expanded exhaust metal going back to its original size after a good blast :)

There is a cooling fan inside the ecu box that continues running for a few minutes after engine switch off, it is common for it to either become noisy, due to the bearings drying out which gives off a squealing noise, or pack in altogether, it is easy to remove and replace.

I have a noise which sounds like its coming from behind the drivers side headlight. I think it's perfectly normal.

The noise you describe, as above, is from the turbo 'vacuum actuator', and it is normal.
