It brings into question also of just where is the charge connection made, as a closed boot on a charging battery appears a very bad idea.
If you’re THAT worried , take the battery out of the car and leave it on charge in a bit of your garage away from combustible items .
 
Have you tried Mercedes Mobilo (assuming your car was serviced by a main dealer in the last 12 months)?

I could but I haven’t only because I can’t afford it going into Mercedes at the moment, I use the star diagnostic so they would just do what I have done. I did pop down to Wayne gates Saturday but it was closed.

Not a chance, looking at some of the posts on here you need to take it to the dealer to get it up and running after a battery disconnection.
