Hello, 1 month ago the check engine light appeared on the dash on my C220D Sport late 2016 and after the diagnosis it came up it was the NOx sensor that needed replacement (P220162- NOx sensor cylinder bank 1 has a malfunction) the warranty company didn’t wanted to accept the garage sensor and they have sent their own part to be replaced, after a day of the repair the check engine it’s again on and this time with another error (P229F09- NOx sensor 2 , cylinder bank 1 is faulty ) and today after a few miles the “Eng start not posible in Xxx miles” appeared as well .
The garage said the part provided by the warranty wasn’t genuine MB and this could be the issue … this can be the issue here ? Nox sensor 2 it’s faulty too and needs to be replaced or this it’s just a problem with the part because it’s not 100% compatible ?
Thank you in advance for your advices

1. And 2 should be changed together. Coded in and new software written in.

They should be done under warranty NOX sensors but there is also a way for them to be coded out and the system will still regen etc. There is a local German car specialist who now provides this service for mercedes as the sensors are on back order still.

Hello is sensor 1 and sensor 2 looks same? And i can change by me self? Or i should go to a workshop?
Go to mb . Or a very well informed independent specialist.

I took my 17plt c220d in for a couple of recalls and they replaced mine and that wasn't even showing a fault, it is a known problem though, maybe I just got lucky.

Hi
Just outside Manchester area and am looking to try and clear a P229F (Nox issue code) on my ML350 could you please tell me which is the German car specialist garage that may be able to do the 'coded out' work? Thanks

There are hundreds of remappers deleting these issues across the UK, just do your homework, check the reviews, and make sure they are reliable.

It's becoming a farce for mercedes this , any other brands suffering the same fate , all I ever see is Mercedes.

Although this system (Nox sensors/adblue) is not really "fit for purpose" and is expensive to get "repaired" if not done free of charge by MB, I believe it may be illegal to use a car on UK roads if the system has been coded out. Whether or not anyone has actually been prosecuted for this (or if it's easily identified as being coded out) I wouldn't know. It may also affect insurance cover as it's been modified? I'm not judging anyone for doing this, just thought it was worth a mention if anyone was considering doing it but wasn't aware of the possible consequences.

Given what I read on this forum.... personally, I would never buy a second hand Diesel Mercedes with the BlueTec engine and the AdBlue system. Too many potential issues that are expensive to fix. I recon that history will judge the AdBlue system in the same way as the SBC system... but without the 25 years warranty.

All I see are articles saying , nox sensors on back order so customer had ad blu and nox delete whilst they await new parts , yeah right :)

Ok had it done now and works perfect :)

It's silly not to tbh. If your keeping the car long term why pay £1000's to help with nox levels in London.
