Hi,

I being told by merc dealer that my w212 (2015 facelift) upstream sensor number is 9051612, i bought the original sensor from online seller at a cheaper price. However when mechanic unplug the existing sensor i noted the number is 9053403. Sensors are of same size and dimension though. Mechanic fit that and told me to get the coding done since its a new sensor. I will be going for coding in few days but i failed to understand why merc gave me a different sensor number. I checked online w212 usually referred to 9053403 sensors but also 9051612 is for w212. These are not cheap and i am not sure if it works fine after coding. Mechanic said they possibly updated the sensor, that's why merc gave u a updated sensor number. I am not agreed to this justification since online merc shop also selling 9053403 for w212...

Its very confusing i hope its works ok after coding..
.does anyone has a clue about different variant of sensors for same model?

My 2011 S Class recently had both Nox sensors replaced following a diesel software update. I was informed that the replacements were 3rd generation sensors (the original 1st generation sensors were not compatible with the software update)

Beware cheap NOx sensors . . .

Post replacement are those working fine?
Since I'm not doing this with merc i have no idea which generation is this, though with the number its looks older.

Everything has been fine since the diesel update and sensor replacements. I believe that if one Nox sensor fails, the other will also fail shortly afterwards (days, weeks maybe months).

Thanks, that's what my car mechanic told me to be ready for another cost.

If you have a look on the MB site, you'll find that they guarantee to change any NOx sensors that are incompatible with the update, free of charge.

Thanks, that is a good piece of info, however it will be tough challenge, in case sensor is not compatible as i hvent purchased it directly from merc.
