NTG4.5 Gen to Gen2

My new to me 2011 S204 has the NTG4.5 Gen1 with the yellowish (papyrus) tinge, I believe it can be updated to the Gen2 giving it the fresher black and silver appearance.

Forum sponsors ComandOnline are a bit too far for me to support their loyalty to the forum, on this occasion unfortunately.
Any suggestions of anyone in the North West, East Lancashire, West Yorkshire regions that can do this?

Yes it can be done. Gen1 and Gen2 use the same hardware.

Applying Gen2 firmware to a Gen1 unit will upgrade it to Gen2.

You will then be able to select the grey/black/red theme of Gen2 instead of the Papyrus theme (brown/yellow) of Gen1.

Gen3, however, uses different hardware and therefore it is not possible to upgrade from Gen1 or Gen2 to Gen3.

Does Gen2 change anything other than the colour? I've read alot on this, only seen colour scheme been mentioned..

As far as I know, that's the only noticeable difference, however, when upgrading from Gen 1 to Gen 2, you also get the latest version of the COMAND NTG4.5 software, which will be newer than the one you have now, and so you'll benefit (potentially) from bug fixes etc.
