  1. Hi, Just planning on taking a power from behind the radio in the ML63 for my dash cam, wake up of something like it.
  2. Its currently wired to the 12volt lighter and it drives me mad switching on and of with stop start killing to power all the time, the dash cam bleeps as the power switches.
  3. The radio I believe has a code and I need this before I pull the quadloc off the comand.
  4. I have asked my dealers for the code weeks ago and again today and it seems they don't know where its stored! service put you to parts and back again no idea.
  5. Where is that data stored, how do you get from MB??

I'm pretty sure there is no code as the radio is coded to the car

Same problem I had with CL, contacted MB, utter waste of time, initially wanted proof of ownership via log book so supplied scanned image to them.

Then found out car chassis is tied to the radio and there is no code so Mb do not know their own vehicles!

My car is 2002 so Mb might have changed in 16 years though.

Ok so you think it will be ok to remove and refit then.
Still no reply from MB about it.

Contact Comand at www.comand.co.uk they can confirm for you

Zenman. The unit is coded to the VIN. You only need the very long code if you put it in a different car. This is true for NTG2.5, NTG4.5, NTG5 - although the NTG2.5 code is only 6 digits. So feel free to unplug it.

However there is no "switched power" output on the back of the COMAND which has enough power for anything. There is a little one which is on with the stereo for feeding comfort phone but that is very low current. The other ECU behind there also all have permanent power and decide what to do from CANbus.

Thanks Richard that’s a great help.

Thanks Richard, I can crack on with it now, great help once again.
Just looking for a power that is not controlled with the stop start and runs on after you turn off like the dash fan power.
Not sure on the camera drain, its a very light wire so will look into that.

Which power socket are you currently connected to ? I don't recall my main cigarette lighter (ashtray) going off and on with the stop-start - but it could be that I got my power from one of the USBs .. (and that may do the trick for you too)

Richard

There are also other power feeds that turn off "some time" after the ignition is switched off and car is locked (or if the battery voltage drops to low earlier that that "some time") - and that is possibly true of the main feed for the COMAND unit - so that may be worth checking. The later NTG4.7 systems sometimes had two power feeds one that was permanent and one that did this late switch off.

Richard, its currently on the cigarette lighter in the centre consul, every time its in stop start the dash cam bleeps like a wake up, its annoying! When I researched the stop start it seems the power is switch and this must be on that circuit.
Just looked at the dash cam and its 1.5 amp so not a lot of power needed.
