Hello there..new to this site so this question may have been asked before! :)
After owning a C180 for over 10 years I changed to a 2001 E320 cdi. I bought it just over two and a half years ago when analogue was still going! Obviously when it changed to digital i lost the picture on the tv. Is there any way of changing to digital but without changing the head unit in any way? Really want to keep it original :) thanks for any replies or advice......Alister

Hi Alister,
I have completed this mod some time ago, I used a 12V DVB tuner (from ebay) that cost around £50, as well as Digital TV it will also play MP3 music, AVI/DIVX movies and photo files and also has some games built into it.

On the mercedes S Class W220 the analogue tuner is behind the left side panel in the boot, I searched the forum for the pinouts of the tuners multiplug and wired the video, stereo audio and remote sensor wires directly to the rear of the multiplug as it plugs into the analogue tuner. (havent broke into the built in TV antenna feed yet so cant confirm it is digital compatible, i use a little mag mount TV ant that was supplied with the unit and stick it on the boot lid when in use.

I mounted the DVB tuner box next to the CD changer and used a USB extention with the socket explosed at the join of the side panel to the boot roof panel to enable me to plug USB flash drives in to play MP3's and moviest

only drawbacks are
I have wired it to perm live to I need to use the remote to select standby when i stop the car.
the MP3 option will only play the conents of one folder at a time.
the unit resets to TV mode after resuming from standby so if paying MP3's you have to select audio and select the folder to play.
when driving the TV screen goes blank because of the comand's programmingand i dont think that can easilly be disabled.

if you want more info let me know.

Mark
