This is starting to drive me bonkers! I'm trying to get all my pictures into an online photo album (partially to allow people to see my pictures) - but its proving harder than I had hoped!

FotoPlayer v2.0 (along with JAlbum)
http://www.fotoplayer.com/
Looks great, I LOVE that flash interface, the controls are nice, it reads pentax metadata VERY well, i like the transitions, and the mp3 support works great...
BUT...
-password protection of albums doesn't work, or is flaky at best.
-no admin/user differentiation
-doesn't have the ability to upload pics from the browser

on the other hand, PHP Photo album
http://www.phpalbum.net/
has all those extra features, but it lacks the flash interface and doesn;t support mp3's. Plus, it looks quite... ugly!

Any other you know of that you would recommend?

If I understand you correctly then Flickr may be an answer or Smugmug. I'd agree it is a pain uploading pics.

what about photobucket.com? i use that one :D

Wow; didn't realise anyone had replied!

Was: Photoplayer is a JAlbum skin...

Zmaster: Flickr is too "public" (I want something I can host on my server and modify as and when I wish; plus I can't use my mp3's on flickr (that I know of)) - smugmug looks interesting; I'll have a look at that, thanks!

Photobucket is... basic! No image transitions, no passwords, no albums... nothing much really! Its great to host a single image when you have nowhere else to hide, but otherwise is quite basic.

p.s. been playing with Fotoplayer v3.0 beta - and thought its HIGHLY unstable and crashes more often than a a bumper car, it seems to have resolved the issues with password protecting a little... I might need to wait for the final to be released and code a little php script to allow me to upload images and edit the xml files in one fell swoop...
