Hi All, I have a A180 2014 diesel which only blows ambient air inside the car. Had it on and OBD with a garage and it came up with Evaporator Temp sensor fault (open circuit). Have replaced that now (with this) but it hasn't made any difference. Have checked all fuses, non blown. Near where the temp sensor the two large metal pipes which go into the blower unit?? are hot, so it seems heat is getting into the cabin. Doesn't matter if A/C is on or not, just cool air coming from the vents. The blower is working, blowing at a decent rate through all the speeds. Could it be a fault with the heating controller itself? Any ideas/thoughts. Really am desperate now! Thanks in advance.

Obvious question, but have they confirmed you have enough refrigeration gas ( and not a leak)?

Thanks for the reply fabes. No they haven’t, didn’t mention anything about refrigeration. Tbf to them, they said the first thing would be to replace the part and go from there. Since I did that myself, I haven’t been back to them yet.

Just thought to add also, I bought the car from the police and it hadn’t been used for a couple of years. They put in a new battery and I’ve replaced the auxiliary battery as that was dead. Could the fact the car hasn’t been used for so long affect the refrigeration. Or the dead batteries mess with the heating system? I’ve searched for heating resets but couldn’t find anything for my car.

so you are not getting warm air in the cabin if i understood correctly. Check your heat circulation pump.

sorry i have no experience with the A-class, it wont come up as an error on the diagnostic either. should be near the ac housing

Ok, thanks Riva. That gives me something to check out. I’ll try and work out where it is to see if I can spot anything. Thanks again.

Not been successful finding the the heat circulation pump. thought I mention there is another error which comes up at the same time, "The evaporator sensor has a malfunction. There is a short circuit to positive or open circuit" does that shed any more light?
