hmmm well if the sensor is broken it usually displays - something...
... are you sure it just hasnt been 10 degrees outside?
The sender is under the bumper near side, they can display fixed ramdom faults. Have they been working near there.
If the panel holding the sensor had to be removed to do the repair (front bumper on W202, don't know about the W220) there is a better than even chance that the sensor hasn't been replaced properly. Just because the wire is going into it doesn't mean that it's seated correctly.
How do I know?
Because when I had mine off I bent a pin plugging it back in It was very easy to do, in my defence.
The front wing is close enough.
Look for a small bullet-shaped object poking through a hole in the nearside of the front bumper. That's the sensor. Check that it's plugged in correctly.
Aahh.... too late
Yep, I've found the sensor and given it a bit of a jiggle to see if it would effect the reading, but no change.
Suppose I could try throwing a bucket of cold water onto it to see if that changes it.
Just hold it and think of some one that owes you money, it should reach 33c.
Please note how polite I am on the forum
Unplug the sensor and that should tell you
Oops!!
Just had a look and the temp was reading 14 degC in the garage.
Pulled it out of garage chucked some water on the sensor. Waited a while and it then went down to about 12.5 (same as W202 that was sitting a few feet away).
So clearly it's registering changes in temp and is probably working fine.
Just seemed very odd that it didn't budge at all yesterday and was different to that of my W202.
I'll keep my eye on it, and if I think there's a fault, I'll do as you say above.
Appologise for jumping the gun, and thanks for the advice anyway.
shr.
The car was obviously in distress at having to go away and sit in an oven at 40c, and pleased to be home again
