I've converted a bunch of mini-VHS camcorder tapes into mp4 files, and found this.

Near Leicester Square, September 1993.

Twenty-five years ago, and my eyes still hurt ...
Own up chaps: was it yours - gold-plated grille star? o_O

Ooh...Carat Duchatelet mods??

Very 80s chic!

Lovely, does it have a not stick coating?

Like it - even if it does have a strong smell of "L'eau de 80's" about it.

One of the finest coupes ever.

I'm more interested in this.

I quite like the FIRST pic in this thread

The bodywork (which I'm sure was original, and not a later slap-on kit) is brilliant, I quite like the colour, if a bit OTT, and the grill can always be re-chromed or replaced.
Mind you, 25 years ago this car cost a fortune ...

The car in the original post looks like a Gemballa conversion?

The SL has illuminous strips fitted so it lights up in the dark, if not then it’s a strange way to make it look better.....

They did this to saloons also!

I think its a KOENIG wide body conversion.
Oh yes - you're absolutely right, I can see those better in a clip - the screenshot is less clear, as you said.

I'll bet there's half a ton of glue on it, go slower stripes.

I would offer it was a sort of styling "homage" to Ferrari's F512M Testarossa which came out in 1984? Of course the finned radiator side pods made a lot more sense in a rear engined 4.9 litre flat 12! Ferrari Testarossa - Wikipedia
