I team,

I have Mercedes e250 Avant-garde (2013). I have experiencing a fault code

P010106 Mass Air Flow sensor 1 has a malfunction. Algorithm fault

When scanned. But the engine is running good, no pickup issues. Only issue facing is that in Economy drive mode(E) for gear shifting it has to go up to 3000rpm. Orelse manual shift can be done post to 2000rpm.

1. Replaced Mass Air flow sensor
2. Checked for air leakage in all the hoses - no issues.

Still not able to diagnose the problem. And because of this though the engine is running good, there is a significant milage drop. As the engine runs in almost 1st gear most of the times in traffic. Please suggest what else could be done to resolve this issue.

Thanks in Advance.

There could be an issue with the loom or ECM rather than the MAF, best to get it on STAR and read the live values as this will be cheaper than throwing more parts at it.

With that scan tool of yours, go into live data and scoot about looking for MG/Hub figures --(Lost in the Pond speech from this side !)
Your starter for ten Michael Mlies . :p 👍
Likely to find that info in EGR pids/page.
This is an algorithm based reading of air flowing into the engine & filling cylinders.

Avant-garde!!
What does that man in me native roots of Gloucester, Forest & Stroud speak?--"avent got a clue ol' butt ?👿

To understand MG/Hub is part of advanced diagnosis for US techs involved in driveability problems when NO codes are present.
Here is some bedtime reading where you can convert to familiar figures from different scan tool interpretation & no code faults .

Yes, thank you for the suggestion. Booked an appointment to get it scanned through STAR. Will update here about the outcome.

Didn't even understood a piece of what you meant!

And you might have indefinite knowledge! But most of us are here to seek some advice out of everyone's experience! If you can, please suggest or if you are ego-bound that is OK! Kindly stay put!

Anyways thanks for your precious time on replying!

Well sorry but to understand the operation and defects of a MAF sensor you must understand how the unit works and its faults especially in live data .
I gave some advise in two posts with a diagram etc
Sorry if you can't understand it, that's your problem not mine .

Thank you! And sorry.

Bit frustrated as I'm not able to resolve this issue! I'm not that complete technically enabled in these things. So very badly looking for any sort of help here. Appreciate your efforts with guidance. Will be of great helpful if more info is provided on this.

Can you please elaborate on the fix. Where and what is the fuse connected to MAF?

Thanks in advance
Different vehicle. For whatever reason the fuse that provides current to the MAF, O2 sensor heaters, and EVAP was missing. Replacing it was all I had to do.

Your problem is different or it would show in the diagnostics (as mine did - 'low circuit voltage).

Hey did you get a solution to this issue.
My w204 has the same fault
