Hi all
I keep getting a fault and when I read it with an OBD reader it says I have a fault with P0132 and a pending fault with P0404. The P0132 reads that it is the O2 sensor circuit high volts bank 1 sensor 1.

I might change the sensor myself. Which one is it on the car and would you recommend buying from MB?

Thanks

Would expect it to be the upstream, before Cat, on LHS looking from front of car, you may be able to access from engine bay?
check prices it may be reasonable from Merc if not buy reputable makes from wherever gives good value.

P0404-pending is EGR related so could be time for a clean before it gets worse

Thanks I’ll take a look and see if I can see it.
In terms of the EGR I cleaned in situ through the turbo and used some fuel additives (forte) as I couldn’t get it off the car. Any tips on removing it from the car?

Is this a diesel ? What year and engine etc .

I assumed it was the car in his signature E320 cdi!

That don't show up using a mobile. But I see it now. There's only 1 o2 sensor on the derv and its in the exhaust underneath the car around the drivers side wheel area. The egr once you remove the bolts ,you need to tap in a sharpened flat screwdriver to lift it out of its housing , take care not to gouge it too much . its sealed inside with a rubber o ring .

Brilliant, is there a best spot to lift it with the screwdriver?

Apologies about the lack of info on the car. Didn’t realise the signature was unavailable on mobiles. It is indeed a 2007 E320 sport. 115000 miles on the clock.

Just at the side where you can get access with a hammer , it don't take much to lift it a bit , then use something to pry it out the rest of the way. Twisting and turning the egr as you pull , the lip goes back a good 10mm before the sealing ring . so your unlikely to damage anything tbh. I filled a cup with oven cleaner and left the egr steeping for 30 mins , a quick rinse under the tap and it was as good as new.

Perfect advice thanks. Couldn’t budge it before. This morning I used your advice using an old chisel, once off the EGR wasn’t that dirty but did have a coating of carbon. The oven cleaner got all of it off and it was back on the car in no time.

you can purchase the o2 sensor on ebay , bosch for around £85. i replaced mine but didnt see much of a change tbh .

I took the car out after the EGR clean and it ran great. It did throw up the P0132 error as a pending fault but none of the 40 errors relating to the EGR.
I think my next fix is the back boost sensor. I’ll see if MB has one in stock next week.

Exhaust back pressure sensor replaced this morning £54 from MB. The only one was filthy, covered in carbon by the looks of it. Will report back after it’s had a good run.

Had a good run and the car is running fine. No limp mode yet but it is still throwing up the P0132 fault. No EML but the fault is read on an OBD machine.

O2 sensor next then ?

The 401 and 404 codes were thrown up again today and the car went into limp after a couple of months and approximately 1700 miles of trouble free driving.

Sounds like it needs a Star session to get to the bottom of it now.

If you can limp along the new road up to Decoy, Coverdale 2 have had some good reviews (ex resident of Torbaydos here...)
