Ok here are the problems I got.its a 54 plate c180. I replaced the breather hose under the air filter a few months ago but now the car is throwing up a p0301 code and running rough with similar symptoms as the split breather hose caused ie lumpy idle, poor acceleration and general running like a bag of s@#t.

I suspected that the breather hose had somehow come loose but after taking the air filter back off its fine so seeing as I had it stripped down I cleaned the MAF with some electrical contact cleaner for good measure as it looked clean anyway but thought it might help. I cleared the p0301 code and took it for a spin and normal driving it was fine but as soon as you put your foot down it stutters and the engine management light comes back on and it runs like a bitch.

I disconnected the MAF and cleared the EML again and this time went for a spin again,it seemed more responsive and smoother straight away but when accelerating it still seemed a little hesitant but the EML didn't come back on so what would you guys recon it is would you all say MAF or could it be the CAT.

Did you replace both parts of the pipe and the valve in the block that they connect to

Only replaced the single hose like a elongated z shape that's directly under the air filter housing, didn't know about any others ?.the hose I'm on about is the one that runs from the supercharger and is supposedly a common fault on the m271 engines.

Yeah there is one below the valve. It is partly hidden by the kompressor.

Easy test is with the car running spray a bit of brake cleaner down there and see if it affects the running.

How easy is it to get to and can I see it from underneath the car,and thanks for taking the time to reply to me .

To get to it to replace you have to take the inlet and kompressor out of the car b

That's me f@#*ed then ,only got basic skills and very limited amount of tools so looks like I need to get it booked in to a local specialist then if that is the problem.you mentioned about spraying brake cleaner or something what should I look for ie a change in the engine noise or something, sorry if I seem a bit vague but have very basic mechanical knowledge.

Where abouts are you. Might be able to recommend someone to go to.

If you spray a bit of brake cleaner down where the pipe is and its split the revs should rise and it would probably run better for a few seconds.

Thanks for that will give it a go .

Swansea in South Wales.

Yeah give that a go and see what happens first.

Gave it a try and no diff in the running of the engine noise or rpm at idle. The EML light will only come on if I put my foot down at about 3000 rpm when driving but it does not come on when revving at 3000 rpm when at a standstill.the engine seems to be sweet until I drive it and go to accelerate quickly the EML light comes on and it runs like a dog as if its only running on 3 cylinders but as soon as I reset the EML and start it up it runs smooth as if nothing is wrong with it .

As someone said before there is two pipes down the side the Z type one and the other more difficult one which has a check valve in it which blocks and causes similar problems

ive got the same issue with a c180k ive got ! any help would be appreciated
