Paddles while in C MODE
A funny thing happened the other day. I found I could go through the gears using the steering wheel paddles while in C Mode and it would indicate this on the dashboard display(C 1-6). I bet its because I have driven the thing to slow for some time and it wants to stretch its legs a bit. After using the paddles to work through the gears 1 up to 6 it would come out of manual and go into auto. Next day I could not repeat it what ever I tried. So from now on I have decided every month I am going to blast it up to 120mph to give it a treat.

You can definitely change down using the paddles in 'C' mode at any time.
Then changing up takes you back up through the gears to 'D'

At least is does on mine.

Well thank you Ted I have never noticed that before.

Or just hold + / up for a couple of seconds and it goes back into D.

Holding down the - paddle will select the lowest gear for you, without having to press it multiple times.

When using the paddles in C you are limiting the gear range. If you see eg 3 then the autobox will not change past 3 but will change as normal 1-3. Useful for keeping revs up in hilly roads.
Holding the - paddle for a few second will drop as many gears as required for Max acceleration, great for snappy overtakes ;)
Holding the + paddle a few seconds cancels the range restriction.
