Paint touch up on approved used car

I have a slight problem with the notion that an approved used car has to have perfect paint. It doesn’t - minor defects commensurate with the age of the vehicle are considered acceptable.

You are correct...Approved Used for Mercedes does not mean paint perfect and you won't find any dealership that will state that the used vehicle is paint perfect.

You need to go over the vehicle carefully, and bring the defects to the attention to the salesman. If he doesn't want tp play ball, talk to the branch manager and see what they are willing to do to rectify the issues you have spotted.

Approved Used vehicles can potentially be reasonably old and/or high mileage. I've bought two that were 7 years old ... just did a quick search and found a 2010 C Class and a GL with >90k miles for sale currently. Definitely not the case that all AU will be 'as new'.

Yes I understand and agree - which is why I was initially prepared to pay for the costs myself - but when I flagged it they were fine about it as they were already fixing some scuffs - so hooray for Mercedes! Hopefully it will turn out well and not be too obvious!!! Thanks again for the input :)

My CLK was an AUC at seven years old too. 32k miles mind you. Paint was nowhere near perfect on the bonnet but as luck would have it the bonnet got damaged while parked not that long after I bought it so I got it respray day properly and it is now pretty much perfect.

But no, an AUC does not have to have perfect paint. It should be very good for the age of vehicle. So a 6 month old 3k miler should be almost perfect. But a seven year old car with 30k miles should not be expected to be as good.
