Parking Sensors in heavy rain

Anyone have any experience of this problem, namely in prolonged heavy rain the parking sensors in my 2011 E220 Avantgarde sound off whenever I turn the wheel at low speed or as I slow to stop when braking (after having stopped, they don't sound). OK again when everything dries out. have had this problem for the last 3 years, different Mercedes dealers offer no solutions. They have tested it at each annual service and a couple of times in between but cannot produce the problem to order even by soaking the car for two minutes with a hose. It only happens out on the road in heavy rain, the only solution is to turn off the sensors. It's not safety-critical, but it is annoying!

Had this on my CLS. I put it down to water running of the paintwork and obscuring the sensor(s). It would also happen in cold weather and stopping in traffic, heat from the engine could trigger the front sensors if there was a breeze from behind.

Try putting some hydrophobic sealant on the sensors so water runs off them quicker - may be worth a try.

At a bit of a loss as to why the problem can't be replicated by the
dealer if it's just down to weight of water, but if the sealant idea does work out, never mind why! Thanks for the tip, I'll try it.

Spray/mist from car wash pressure jet does this to my car (when the jets are used on another car, that is - the spray/mist seems to activate my parking sensors) .

Yep, I get this now and in my previous coupe. I deactivate and drive for a little while then reactivate and all seems good. The important thing is to remember to reactivate...

That's easy to answer - the dealer is using MB spec water 878.99. You are obviously driving in non MB approved rain Sir which is why you are having a problem.

I experience this in heavy rain or snow on the E280 CDI Sport Estate.
It seems to cure itself pretty quickly.
It's never been an issue in light/moderate rain or dry conditions.
