230 CLK convertable
Hi all, I have a 2000 W208 CLK Convertible & in front centre of dashboard a parking display & same display in the dashboard right side, with a double display in-between the rear seats, the display in the rear lights up when R selected (its an automatic) & works fine, the front centre display works OK but the display on the right side in front of driver lights up with a full screen (as if there is an object on the right side of the front of the car) when engine running & below 10-15 MPH & the buzzer sounds, which is annoying, all displays go out over 10-15 mph, but at junctions etc below 10-15 mph the front right side display lights up & buzzer goes of, can anyone offer any ideas, as I have no hand book & don't know what is at fault, I don't want to switch of the sensing, I would rather sort the problem

Do you have access to a code reader? - Some of them are able to read Parktronic codes and might be able to tell you if there's a faulty sensor.

Hi, checked with diagnostics & no faults recorded, suspect a doggy sensor on the right front but not sure.

You really need a diagnostic device that allows real data (distance from obstruction) to be read..

When I had Parking Sensor problems on the ML, the cost of throwing new sensors at it (bought at the dealer) made me look for a more logical solution.

I bought an Autocom CDP Pro Disagnostic reader on ebay for about £70 and this allowed me to pick out the faulty sensors by reading of each sensor in distance-to-obstruction, so really easy to find the faulty ones. Just get a spare child to walk around the car and note how the readings change..

For the price of the diagnostic adapter and two new sensors (at a tenner each on ebay), the problem was fixed for less than the cost of a couple of sensors from the dealer. Of course, without the diagnostic adapter, I wouldn't know how many sensors to replace, or even if it was the sensors that were at fault.

AND I still have the diagnostic adapter for future use......I just know I'm gonna need it sooner or later.
