Phone call clarity woes. Can anyone help?

2004 CLK500
Folks,

I have a 2004 CLK500, which was pre-wired for phone (it had the little connector in the top of the armrest). I installed The HFP cradle and have absolutely no problems hooking up with Bluetooth, downloading contacts etc.

The problem starts when I am on a call. The in car clarity is excellent (as in I can hear the person on the other end clear as a bell), but the person on the other end of the line has the devil's own job hearing me due to background noise. When I mute the call at my end, the background noise disappears, which leads me to believe that it is an in car microphone sensitivity issue.

Has anyone come across this before and if so, how did you cure it?

If the car is the pre model year 2005 (released about april 2004) facelift than the HFP has an issue. If its a MY2005 onward the HFP should work find and it does sound like a microphone issue, perhaps mircophone failure ..

If you look at the stereo and it fills the full width of the centre console then it is MY2005 onward, if the wood/metal trim goes around the side of the stereo then its MY2004 or before.

Apologies for the images, but I don't really know the model numbers!!!!

As I mentioned, the call quality in the car is excellent, but at the caller at the far end gets loads of background noise. When I mute the phone, the background noise completely disappears, leading me to believe it is a microphone issue (although I may be completely wrong!).

Is there any way to turn down the sensitivity of the microphone, or swap to a different bluetooth device that eradicates the issue?

My normal phone is a SE Xperia Pro, but I have the same issue on BB, iPhone and an old SE that I think Noah used on The Ark!

Also check that if the phone has echo control in the bluetooth device properties (once you have paired) I know it sounds the wrong way round but I have the Viseeo mbu-1000 in my W211 2003/4 model and had similar problems until I disabled echo control on my BB.

OK, the HFP is not supported in cars with the COMAND you have - it gives echoing to the other party, so I suspect this is what they are hearing. You have to use a ViseeO

Talk to Alfie at comandonline !

Folks,

Thank you ever so much for your help. My Viseeo arrived today, took 10 minutes from opening the box to getting it working and the call clarity at both ends is excellent.

Thanks again & have a good Christmas!

Do you want to sell your HFP Bluetooth module?
