Hi

I know that a few members here use these tyres, I am in need or new rubber and the choice in the P Zero range has left me somewhat confused.

Are the P Zero Rosso's the best?

Secondly what are the benefits of using Direzonale tyres at the front.

The tyres size on my car is 245/45/17 all round.

Regards

Tan

i had p zeros on the CL (255/45/18) and i found them slightly noisy imho compared to the curent (damn - cant remember and cars not here - dunlops iirc) ones.

never really tested the performance of them - but then again, they didnt slip (much) even with two tonnes on them..

I just heard an Advert for the New Dunlop Sport Max.... anyone know anything about these?

they were just released when I was changing tyres. no size available. They are supposed to be high tech. no idea if they're any good. if you look at some of new high performance Mercs these days (ones I have seen in showrooms), the factory fit tyre is Pirelli P Zero Rossos, this is also true for some Porsches .. there's a message there somewhere ....

Yeah, Pirelli offer the tyres to the manufacturers at a very low cost. :D

I have P Zero's after having P6000 they are a lot quieter, and they appear to come with a madness pill, as since fitting my car goes a lot faster on anything that isnt straight, as they stick like toffee to a blanket......... slap for anyone who didnt think of toffee. Not cheap, but excellent tyre.

I had the PZero rossos on my last car (admittidly a FWD though) the Rosso was excellent for the first 3-4K then went rapidly downhill after that, serious traction problems by 6K & destroyed by 8K. The center went clean out of them, I don't wheelspin, TC was on all the time, the tyres were correctly inflated & lots of other members of that forum were complaining of the same problem. The size was 225/35/18. Changed them for Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 which may have been marginally less grippier but by 6K still had loads of tread & were far grippier than the pirelli @ similar miles, I then sold the car so cann't comment on the end outcome.

Must admit that I am a Goodyear Eagle F1 addict. Must have spent ££££s on them on the amount of tyres that I have bought over the last few years!

The GSD-3s are fantastic! ;)

Very good tyre, excellent traction/braking capabilities in wet and dry weather, wear is reasonable. I would say the only criticism could be from some luxury car owners who think they are a slightly noisy tyre? I don't personally find this an issue.

Could be worth considering?

Cheers,

Will

They are excellent tyres.
Eagles are possibly more "sticky", but in the real world, i doubt you will get either slipping with 245 on the floor...

They must have changed the P6000's . I had them on my last car and i got nothing but wheelspin in the wet and not very confident in the dry ...

Conti sport contacts however :)

Fuzzer, He was commenting on the p zero's mate, not the P6000, but i agree they are just an 'average' tyre and not for the throttle happy ;)

Michelin Pilot Sport 2's anyone?

We've had P-Zero Rosso's on the front of our C43 for a few months now. Much better steering feel than the original Conti-Sports, very good grip and quite comfortable. Very impressed so far....

Waiting for the rears to wear out to replace those!

I've just had Michelin Pilot Sport 2's (courtesy of Costco) fitted and the grip on them is very good, not had any serious wet weather to try it on yet. Little bit noisy than the Bridgestones that were on before. When I had the 17"s they have Avons that were ok in the dry but did suffer quite a lot from aquaplaning.

Continentals, I've found from previous cars experience, are very hard wearing (previous car went up to 35k miles on the rears before they needed replacing) but found that grip, especially in the wet to be very poor.

I've always found Michelins to be the best all round.

If you want grip, grip and more grip, the better ones are the Bridgestone potenza S03 or less sporty the RE050 or even less sporty but also with excellent grip the Turanza ER300.

For some driving confort/grip I advice the ER300

Pirelli rosso are great in confort and at wet roads, but they don't have the feel of a Bridgestone tyre.

Michelin pilot sport 2 are great, but not great as the Bridgestone and Pirelli.

I dont advice the Continental sport contact 2, it sucks, no grip at all in wet roads (my current tyres).

I had all the tyres I mencioned but theres no tyre compared with the potenza S03

I forgot to say, the continental tyres make a lot of miles but they got no grip (very hard wearing), the pirellis and michelin make the same miles.

The bridgestone have a lot of grip (potenza) but they run of quickly. :p
