Please Help

Hi All

Recently purchased a c220cdi sport and am new to this forum.

Car runs like a dream and have just had a huge ice install!!! :bannana:

Noticed some smoke coming from under the driver side wing when i left the car idling for 5 mins.

Noticed it again when waiting at traffic lights. its not a lot of smoke, but enough to want to get it sorted.

Had a mechanic check it, and he was not sure, however he confirmed there was no loss of water/oil.

Have investigated, but no joy as yet

Any Ideas ? Is this common ?

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not too sure of the 220CDI engine layout/setup but could it be an oil breather pipe dripping periodically onto your exhaust manifold? I used to get this quite frequently on my first car, a Peugeot 504, and it was disconcerting when I hadn't figured it out and then not an issue when I had figured it out.

I could be waiting at traffic lights and all of a sudden a big puff of smoke would rise from the driver's front wheel arch and the bonnet, hehe other drivers around the car looked quite worried as I was sat there seemingly oblivious.

Have you stood by the car with the bonnet open to try and determine where the smoke is coming from?

Its normal , its youre aux heater for the cabin. If your temp drops below 5 degrees and youre engine temp is below 40 then its an extra heater. Its in your manual.
