Was this a problem cranking only and did you get it solved. I seem to have the sale issue on mine

If you can unlock car but the steering lock does not come off when you insert the key it's the ELS electronic lock. EIS stops the cranking.

I can unlock the car, I can unlock the steering lock, ignition lights come on, seatbelt moves forward, air con; everything. Just doesn’t crank

My car did this and had the steering lock module replaced which showed up as the fault ,picked car up and then did it again ,my michanic told Mercedes it was the sams unit causing it so they changed it reluctantly and it’s run and started perfectly ever since ,I was also advised not to keep keys near iphones as it can cause problems too

Hi

I got this fixed in the end. They replaced the ignition switch, that got the car going. It happened again so I got the steering lock replaced. That sorted the problem. Expensive though!

Thanks for the update Johnerz. Did you steering lock show symptoms or was it just not cranking?
