Hi all:thumb:

I am strongly leaning to becoming a clk 320 owner and would like to hear your
views on this one that is just up the road from me?

1998 MERCEDES CLK 320 SPORT AUTO RED on eBay (end time 02-Jul-09 20:12:03 BST)

I know its on the register but that does not worry me to much.
Any other 320 issues you guys know of that I should be checking for would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Hi.
I used to own a 1998 CLK320. A lovely car in my view, though rust is sadly a very common issue with these cars.

My last 3 cars have been bought of Ebay. Generally I would say the cars are not as fully descirbed. Which is fine if you factor this in to the price.

That car you linked does state any service history, which if that is the case then it is also unlikely to have warranted mileage. Again if you factor that in to the price then it's not so bad.

Did you know he has previously sold the car for £3k.........way over priced IMHO

For the same money you could have bought mine with 97k miles and FSH.

Find out where it was first registered and call around the local MB dealers to see if it's on their books.

Can you get a mobile mechanic with Star machine to visit the car to see if it has any fault codes?

If the O2 sensor, MAF and catalyst are out then it will cost ££££ to fix and be a false economy.

£2500 max, but less if you don't find out about the service history and what error codes the car may have.

Thanks for the advice, All very useful and much appreiciated
:)

Go for it, they are a great car, sadley im selling mine but imo they are great fun to drive 320 is much better than the 230, i would say the one n e bay seems a bit dodgy, you would be better off waiting for a genuine car with full history etc as expensive repair bills will spoil the enjoyment of the car.

Way too much. You did the right thing not getting caught up in the Ebay fever.
Keep looking as I'm sure you'll find a nice one for ~£3k.

edit: don't forget it had no service history, so the low mileage could have bee a work of fiction.
