Two guys strip down a Toyota Prius transmission and reveal just how clever a piece of engineering it is. They exhibit the enthusiasm of guys who know they won't have to put it all back together again! You will hear numerous references to MG1 and MG2 which refers to motor- generator 1 and 2
Maybe ten years from now this is the stuff that guys will be cursing at in garages at the bottom of the garden. Those high voltages gloves look like a must have piece of kit for the DIY man ! Enjoy.

Now I know what to do if my Lexus hybrid 'box fails...:D:D:D

The engineering is great, the mechanics no so. It made me wince the way they sat the transmission mating surface on the concrete floor then dragging it along, the way they used a hard hammer and a pry bar to remove an aluminium casing and a screwdriver to prise out a spring steel shim

They should save up and buy a work bench - then everything won't be covered in concrete dust when they reassemble it!

His 200V three-phase variable-speed generator was extremely clever - not many people could knock one of those up at home!
