problem with gearbox / cruise control on o7 plate e320

Hi I have an issue that has cropped up on my Mercedes.

On a long drive when I am useing cruise control and making adjustments to my speed depending on traffic I have developed an issue where the car seems to be stuck in a incorrect gear and when I try to accelerate there is no thrust at all.

From a stop it doesnt move.

When I turn the car on and off again the problem sorts itself. I cant tell whether its a cruise control issue the gear box or both, it seems tgo occur when ive been on cruise control for a while.

Any help or advice would be good it seems to occur every couple of days

I think you would be best advised to find a Mercedes specialist with Star diagnostics and have the stored gearbox fault codes read.
That should give some indication as to whats going on. I would only guess at a faulty speed sensor within the gearbox, but a proper diagnosis would confirm.
