Production of the New S-class (221) halted

I hear from a realiable source that the production line of the 221 has halted due to lack of sales.

I am not sure how true it is?

Anyone know?

I doubt if it's that sinister!
Most luxury car makers are on short time working because of the downturn.
I know Bentley have been on a 3 day week for sometime now and others are shutting down early for Christmas.
I'd be suprised if it was not a supply and demand situation.

Mercedes aren’t alone in this. LandRover sales in October were 58% below the level a year ago. And BMW have announced big cuts in staff and short time working.

Truth is they are all facing a massive drop in sales and we are facing 18 months of very good bargains!

Most production globally is being throttled back at the moment - slowing the line, no overtime, short working, etc.
