Saw this guy on Tuesday's Horizon Prog on Beeb 2 about Black Holes. He is the director at the Max-Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) in Garching, near Munich. In 2008 he won the prestigious SHAW PRIZE FOR ASTRONOMY for proving the existence of a super black hole at the centre of our galaxy. It's $1,000,000 to spend as he wished. It been suggested he buys a new car. So what does one of the brightest guys on the planet drive------a W123  BBC - BBC Two Programmes - Horizon, 2009-2010, Who's Afraid of a Big Black Hole? CHAPTER 5 run time 25 minutes on.

It didn't go unnoticed in the Stratman household either :bannana:

Edited bit:-

Do you recall a series by Brian Sewell about the art of Catholic churches in Europe, or something like that?
He drove a beautiful SEC about which he was asked so many questions he had to say a bit about it in the programme :D

Someone will be along in a minute to tell us a) it wasn't an SEC and b) exactly what it was.

I think the series was called " THE GRAND TOUR" I can't stand the guy personally but you can't fault his taste in cars. :thumb: It was a LHD 560 SEC as I recall. Here's a profile of him as a driver--drives in his bare feet evidently which fits with his somewhat eccentric personality.;) Portrait of a driver: Brian Sewell - Telegraph

I was hoping they would show us what his new car was going to be. They did seem to like showing the cars of the various people being interviewed.

You were right:

Sewell is a museum adviser in South Africa, Germany and the United States. He is also patron of the British charity NORM-UK which raises awareness of circumcision and other forms of surgical alteration of the genitals. From August 2006, Sewell has provided the tongue-in-cheek voice-over for television advertisements for Apetina brand Feta cheese, the "conceit" being that the salads on which the cheese is used are works of art.
Brian Sewell is also a noted aficionado of classic automobiles, a fan of stock car racing and over several decades has written extensively about cars, classic and contemporary, in the Evening Standard and elsewhere. In both his TV series, on the pilgrimage to Santiago and the Grand Tour (supra), he drove his venerable Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC coupe.
