1998 C200 Elegance
First post and my first Mercedes.

So i recently bought a 1998 c200 elegance, and it wont lock or otherwise react as it should with a working pse. I can only hear ticking sounds from what i presume is the relay in the pse, no humming or anything.

I have disassembled the pse and the motor have some small signs of burns, but nothing big.

My problem or confusion began when searching the part number found on the pse, not only is it rare, but a tad expensive as well, but the cars that it is listed as origin and fitment are completely different models.
And it is a sticker on my pse that makes me think it is not the pump that originally came in my car.

The previous owner had it parked for 4years because it ran in limp mode,
something i think is because of low trans oil. (its not limping anymore)
The central lock worked just fine when it was parked, but after a while he wanted to move the car, but with a flat battery he drilled into the trunk lock and managed to open it.

So my question is as follows:

Is there more than one part number that will fit, with nothing more than maybe star coding?

What is the correct number to the pse that should be in my car?

I want to try to connect the motor directly to current to see if it works, what voltage should i use?

Do someone here know what pins to connect just to test the whole pse and its different functions? 12v?

All help is greatly appreciated!

AFAIK, the PSE varies greatly dependent on what features your car has, my PSE is A210 800 27 48 and I believe it needs to be coded with STAR to your car once fitted.

If you can put your VIN up we can look to see what PSE is listed against that.

On Ebay, your current PSE is listed as £65

How about just replacing the motor from a doner pump from e bay and avoid programming?

WDB2020201F656562!
part number for your VIN is A210 800 1948 but Dec has made a good call, get a doner PSE and swap the motor, assuming everything else is OK?

The pump listed under your chassis no is A2108001948
The pump A208800 0148 is not listed as a spare part in the EPC - this sometimes happens if the part no refers to an assembly of one or more parts fitted at the factory and nowhere else - it can be replicated with a combination of 2 or more available parts which can be ordered separately. With the A208******** designation its likely to have come from a W208 COUPE originally.

Its something i have been thinking about doing, but got a bit "scared" when i opened the back of my motor, with the magnets and all. There and then i felt it was a bit over my head.
And how do i search after one that will fit? All with the "PP-T40" on top?

It does look OK, not that i'm an expert.

Thanks guys!

Well as you have the PSE out, its wont take long to strip a doner PSE from any variant and try the motor

Then it was changed at some point. The funny thing is that it is a sticker with i date put on the PSE, and its around the time when it presumably went bad. Tinfoil hat anyone?o_O

Then i have to find one with the same electrical connection size in the case.

So to recap a bit, if i want plug and play, i need to stick to the part number i got here, since it has been coded right? Or will the original one still be compatible without coding?

But i think i will try getting hand of a donor

All you would need to do is connect the Black & White wires in your first picture to the replacement motor from e bay.
Get a mechanic to do it for you if not sure of your own skils.
