Pulling to the left?

Just test drove a 1991 190E 2.0 auto that I am 90% certain I will buy to use 3000 miles per year. The vehicle pulls to the left quite markedly but not violently. I have read that a 190 will follow a camber readily - true? Test was on a good dual carriageway - I even straddled the lanes to check

Any thoughts anyone?

BTW: the car does have tacky 16'' alloys with 225 tyres - I would intend to replace these with 15'' steel rims & covers from an early C180 Classic. Suspension has also been lowered (seems a good job) with a Bilstein kit.

Get the seller to track it before you buy?? If its simply tracking then it should drive straight with hands off the wheel after its been done. IF NOT then it might be an expensive fix.

probably just needs a 4 wheel alignment, ask the seller to get one done or deduct the cost from the asking price. my car does not pull to the left. it could just be that the car was not aligned properly after lowering

I doubt the alignment is out that much - there is more of an effect from tyre wear or imbalanced wheels.

Swap front wheels over to see if it pulls the other way.

Dont believe it if the guy tells you "Its a Merc, they all do that"

Take it to a decent tyre place, get all four tyres inspected, wheels balanced and the four wheels electronically alligned. (cost about £60)

If it still pulls to the left the problem is elsewhere... if it doesn't you will enjoy your new ride even more!

I must agree with all the other posts,

BUT also check that the tyres are inflated to the correct pressure, and if it is still pulling one way or the other, get the seller to lift the car off it's wheels and check that the brakes are not binding.

Just my 2d worth

Super & helpful responses folks - I'll do them all!
