E350CDi Coupe Sport - Gone
Hi,
Am looking to buy a 2010 CLS 350 which has done just over 100k miles, price to change is very competitive and the car is an approved Mercedes one and comes with 12 months Mercedes warranty, are there any particular problems to look out for?
Many thanks.

Great cars
Had one of those
Glow plugs, glow plug relay (when started make sure glow plug light stays off)
Oil leaks around turbo area, underneath the intake (can cause swirl motor problems) - bit of moisture acceptable
Smooth gear changes
O2 sensor can play up too, any signs of smoking on warm up
Nothing major
12 month warranty your're safe

I am surprised they are selling such a high mile car in their approved used network.

What options does the car have first of all? is it the "Grand Edition" model? These are pretty sorted cars as they are based on the W211 E class... A lot of the interior is the same from them.
Rumour has it, that only 560 CLS Grand Editions were brought into the UK... We have one of those. On top of that, to make ours Rare, we have the AMG kit on it too...

Good luck with the car/search :-)

According to howmanyleft.co.uk there are about 1300 registered on UK roads.

May be wrong but I think they can only add the Tier 1 warranty to cars with less than 60k on the clock but think you can still have the Tier 2. However, that is a 'what's covered' warranty not a 'what isn't' type so more equivalent to what an independent would give you ie. just the big things.

Mercedes uk have two for sale with over 100k miles, neither are that cheep.

The Grand Edition looks nice with an AMG body kit on but for a couple of thousand more you could get one with a lot less miles..

Thanks for that information, I'm looking for peace of mind.

Before you push the go button I'd phone them up and ask what their trade-in price on a 100k CLS would be against a newer car. That'll give you an idea of the real value of it

If you add 20-30k to the mileage the value will only drop further

Are you looking at the Grand Edition in Leeds? It's been on sales since at least June when I was looking (it was on at £15,266 at the time)! I spoke to them about the warranty - it's a basic tier 2 as it's over 100k. Having bought an E Class from Leeds a couple of years ago I would suggest that you inspect it VERY thoroughly as it will be full of faults and they only bother getting dents/scratches sorted that you point out (if your lucky!) - they also put cheap ditch finders on if the tyres are low! As someone said above there are lower mileage ones for not a lot more which is why that silver one's been sat there for months!
