Question for SLK owners

I bought this a couple of years ago for my 171 from good old ebay. It had the description of it will fit a 171 from year x to x. When it arrived it was too tight to secure on the bottom pegs so having a couple of cable ties handy, I improvised - i.e. bodged it to fit. It's about an inch or short of the pegs as shown in the picture.

Question is, does anyone know what MY's it was designed to fit?
