E CLASS 220 AMG PREMIUM LINE EDITION CONVERTIBLE
Hi all,
Please go easy on me (newbie)...
Can someone confirm if you need to replace a tail light/brake light bulb on an E Class 2016 plate Convertible you have to take out the full light fitting/unit?

Hi all... an update on this... so the Wife got into the car after locking it that day and going into work and the fault/error disappeared. All is fine for two weeks and then today she gets in it to drive and she gets the same issue again in our 2016 plate E220 AMG Premium Line Convertible and said that she had a series of errors appear on the dash reporting
"Right-Hand tail lamp / brake lamp , Left-Hand tail lamp/brake lamp". She also said the indicator lights were quicker than normal too? I've read mixed comments when googling
Any replies greatly appreciated

Probably the only way to know for sure is to get the codes read, but just a thought; if the OP's car is a 2016, would it be based on the 204 and therefore possibly subject to the tail light cluster grounding issues that are a known problem?🤔
Welcome by the way Ant. Hope you get it sorted 🤞

Im going to book it in mate, ive been ok in the past working with light/bulb issues on Audi and BMW but Mercedes seem a lot more complicated! It gets serviced every year by a specialised Mercedes garage near us call SPR Autos so ive tried to get it booked in there but earliest date is June 8th as they are that busy :(
Thanks for the welcome by the way ....;)

I've got the same car and with a damaged rear light. I've got teh new unit to go in, but have been told its different on the convertible with one nut being hidden through the bodywork, behind the trim? Anyone changed one of these? Is the nut difficult to get at?
TIA

To answer my own question, but in case anyone else comes across this, the third bolt is indeed accessed by looking through the access hole under the boot lid hinge. You do need to get the boot liner out of the way. You really are working blind on this so do it up as much as you can first as the bolts with notes on go into the holes and then push forward into place. This will make sense when you're doing it as you don't need to remove the 3 bolts to remove the light. You just loosen them and slide the whole rear light cluster backwards to remove it.
