Hi, I'm replacing the auto transmission fluid an filter on a 1983 SL280 (R107). Can anyone recommend correct torque setting for the sump? And how does one drain the torque converter - can't see a drain plug. Thanks.

I think it is 8Nm for the sump pan. You need to turn the engine by the big nut on the crankshaft to see it, but there is a plug in the converter.

Yes to 8Nm. And the sump plug gets a copper washer...the TC plug washer is ally.

Thanks guys, I thought it must be fairly low torque for the sump pan nuts. And - found the drain for the TC, surprised how much fluid came out - must be about 7 liters?
