I own a 2000’ SL280, and the battery is flat. I can’t get into the boot to charge it. Does anyone know where the positive terminal is in the engine bay?

I don't think there is one, at least on my '97. Have you checked your handbook? For jump starting mine says to connect the two batteries directly (terminal to terminal).

You could possibly feed 12V direct to the fusebox if you were very brave & very careful.
As an aside the R129 doesn't like having a flat battery ... fingers crossed you will be OK but in the past this caused spurious fault codes on mine that stopped the roof & rollbar from working ... these survived disconnecting the battery (last resort) and had to be cleared via STAR in the end. I've kept it on a maintenance charger ever since.
