R230 SL500 Stereo

Good evening all, I have just got my first MercSL, its a 500 on a 2003 plate. love it so far, what I'm after is how to upgrade the Comand head unit to something that has bluetooth connectivity for hands free and maybe DAB.
i'm sure there must be something out there that would get a recommend from you guys?

Its worth doing a search on this forum and the other MB forum as there have been quite a lot of discussions on this subject.

A Dension Gateway 500S BT is probably the go-to solution, and I think you can get a DAB module for it too, but all I really want is a USB play facility. Bluetooth would be nice, but not a must-have.

Ebay popped this up as a 'you might like' suggestion, though:

Bluetooth A2DP USB AUX adapter for Mercedes Benz NTG 1 2 COMAND APS Audio 20 50 | eBay

Cheap as chips, looks very easy to install (much easier than the Dension), and equally easy to remove and return if it's rubbish. It would mean losing the CD changer, but I think I could live with that; my single slot CD is duff, but it is apparently quite easy to change the CD drive in the NTG1 head unit, and a replacement drive can apparently be had for less than £100.

If the description is correct, yes it would. The NTG1 won't support bluetooth music streaming, and what other bluetooth is there?

O/P, the early 230's I believe had Command 2 rather than NTG 1 so do make sure which one you have in your car.
I have just bought the Dension Gateway BT for my CLS and I am really quite impressed with it, simple to install and gives you full BT Phone integration and streaming as well.

Hi I have the same model and year, and pondered this for a long time. Found a plug and play option, though you do have to modify the wood centre console or replace it with the face lift model. They are available on eBay IIRC c£450. I also have been led to believe that for example the latest SatNav software release that will work is for 2013. Hope this helps.
