Hello everyone, newbie here!

I have a 2003 SL55 AMG, and yesterday the interior door handle snapped behind the door card. It is not repairable. Does anyone know of, or have, a replacement handle or door card. The carrier for the handle is a large piece of moulded plastic which seems to be ultrasonically welded to the rest of the door card, and makes me concerned that I will need to buy a whole new door card just to replace a small bit of metal. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Would you be able to take some pictures of the broken part as the handle does come in a few bits so would give me a better idea to advise you

Thanks for the reply Willow132 - I'll post up some pictures tomorrow. Basically, the cast metal lever to which the door pull cable attaches has snapped off very close to the pivot of the door pull. I haven't had chance to phone my local MB parts department, so any advice would be greatly appreciateed. I did speak to Douglas Valley breakers as they have an SL55 and an SL350 in, but the door cards have been sold already.

I know this is a very old post but I have recently had the very same breakage and managed to find the part on ebay in Lithuania! Part number is A230 766 00 67 and is called "Inside door handle spindle" . It is removable but tricky needing three hands as the spindle is captured by plastic jaws (part of door card assembly) so had to use two small screwdrivers to prise them apart and at the same time push the spindle out! Reverse procedure to push spindle back in. Either put drop of super glue on spindle or maybe use narrow soldering iron to carefully melt the jaws back into place. The spindle has can only be fitted at one angle so it cant be put in incorrectly. You can see from pic that the part has "nipple" sort of thing at the tip and this is gripped by the plastic trim of door card. There is also a white plastic insert to grip the cable.A 230 766 00 67.jpg

Yup, that part is listed and thus available from your dealer. I had to do my driver's door one last year. It just slides out when door handle is in the right position - you do not have to drill any of the plastic rivets out to change it
Mine broke at a point i could still use a screwdriver to lever it out.

Dont lose the little plastic white bush that clips on to the bit with the hole in it.

I'd buy a couple of the door clips too so if any deform you can replace - saves rattles. A000 994 59 48. Theres 9 per door, one or two may deform.
