R500's new battery.

I've just bought a new battery for my R500 - big, heavy and expensive, but the original's lasted 10 years, so hopefully this Duracell one will do the job for a fair while.

Quick question. The original has a vent pipe, the replacement doesn't. Is it the case that some need a pipe, some don't.....or will I die horribly when the replacement explodes because 'you should have got one with a vent pipe'.......?!

Or maybe not.
If it doesn't have a visible vent then it doesn't need one.
Not a gel or agm type is it?

Its a Duracell DE92AGM, so yes to your question Ted.

Then it doesn't need a vent pipe. Under normal circumstances they don't gas.
If the vehicle overcharges they will gas, and iirc any venting is done via a valve in the lid.
