New "used" car ownership woes. Bought the E63 yesterday and over the moon with it yet there's a small niggle, an error on the dash comes up saying

"radar sensors are dirty please see owners manual"

If I click on in the steering wheel it goes away, as far as I can tell the distronic is working yet the message keeps coming up. Checked what I think is all the sensors and cameras and they are all clean.

Must be missing it in the owners manual yet I can't see anything and there's an invoice for a new radar sensor (no location reference) in the maintenance records back on may 2021.

I've raised it with the supplying dealer,l as the car is under a 2 year warranty yet before messing around with getting it booked in to Mercedes I wondered if there was a simple, quick fix that anyone can suggest?

I've got a Carly adaptor on order, should have been here by now but once it's here I'll plug it in and see if there's any stored fault codes.

Not idea what the issue is, but I would try and get the dealer to carry out a software update FOC (they may do it anyway as part of the fault diagnosis process).

Carrying out your own diagnostics may be an excuse for the dealer voiding the warranty in some areas.

Just take it to MB. It isn't stopping you from using the car 👍

Thanks Mark, it wasn't through a mercedes main dealer yet Jardine Jaguar land rover and was supplied with a 2 year warranty so I'll pop in to Merc and see what they have to say

Fair point DSM, 👍

If it's not under an MB warranty they will charge you for running diagnostics. Re. the RADAR sensor being replaced in 2021, there is a 2 year warranty on MB parts but this may not be transferable.

As you only got the car yesterday your best bet will almost certainly be to get it sorted by the JLR dealer you bought it from.

I've dropped the supplying dealer an email so it's recorded as I know the sales rep is off tomorrow. I'd hope as they have a more local site to me quite literally next door to my work that they will be able to have a look. If not then I'll pop it to the main dealer. Reason I asked on here is sometimes it's a known fault and easily out right on the driveway to save the messing around.

We do get that error occasionally on our C Class, but only when the sensor (the MB star on the grille) is actually dirty. Good luck with getting it sorted and keep us posted!

I've had it also on the loan car they gave me it was only snow and dirt in that instance,

The only thing I can tell is the MB Star isn't sat seated correctly, one of the clips to the left middle as you face the car is not clipped in correctly so assume it's not been fitted properly. The star it's self is spotless. Once it's sorted I'll post a reply

There are other sensors in the front bumper... worth checking those though it sounds like you have. Also, have a look at the main sensor in the grille... its not impossible that something has got stuck in front of the sensor but behind the grille, a leaf or spiders web or something.

Somewhere with STAR could identify if you have a faulty sensor.

Its possible the invoice references one of the rear blind spot sensors (if fitted) as these seem to fail quite frequently due to their location behind the rear wheels.

Either way, get it sorted under warranty as the sensors are megabucks!
