Eclass Convertible
I bought eclass convertible 250cdi 2014 from Mercedes. I never thought that if I buy Mercedec approved car I could be so disappointed. When I drive slow in high gear lets say 40-50mph, gearbox is in 5,6 gear and I accelerate (so when the engine got more vibration) there is loud rattling noise coming from under the car. Front passenger side. Its not something hardly nticeable but pretty loud. I went back twice to main dealer where I bought the car problem still there. i went to different city they didnt resolve the problem saying even if they find they will have to charge me. WTF got the car three weeks now. I am feeling like I bought Skoda or Dacia but even they would say it is not normal. Dont know what should I do? If thats how it looks to drive mercedes its my last one and not for too long.

You shouldn’t be paying for anything as the car should have 1 years warrenty with mercedes approved dealers, is the noise there at low speeds and does the rattle sounds like it’s synced in line with the gears- if that makes any sense.

It sounds like some cover would be loose. But I think it might be related to the exhaust. I dont think its gearbox. About paying for the repair they said its not mechanical and not electric fault so I will have to pay. thats very disappointing. I have this car just over two weeks.

It would be going straight back fix or refund your money.

I would agree with what everyone else has said. I had the same issue when I first got my CLS and was relentless in my pursuit in them fixing it. It turned out to be a melted lug in the rear parcel shelf which was causing a rattle. It took about 4 visits before they were able to rectify. As for it having to be a ‘mechanical fault’ , they tried the same line on me after which I had asked them to show me where that was made known to me upon purchase. They couldn’t. So don’t pay them a cent further!!!

MB dealers (perhaps all dealers?) seem very ruthless. Be ruthless back, if it’s a genuine problem then simply return the car and go elsewhere. There will be other great cars that you can buy. Their tone may change then. If not, at least you didn’t support them by giving them your cash.

(Unless of course the problem is due to damage that you caused hehe)

Can you put up a recording of the ratttle?
I had an engine rattle on my car, had faded away but is now back!
Called breakdown recovery and it is now with Mercedes Bromley, getting different story’s from different Machanics- one even says it may be the sound of the injectors working properly- d**k heads. :-)

Did you notice if the rattle was more noticeable when you drive slowly over ramps / potholes, etc.?

Hello everyone,
I have an e400 2018 with 9700miles. I absolutely adore the car.. I bought it second hand and it has a rattling noise when i accelerate, both when in neutral (which MB say is normal) but in a similar way it is much louder when accelerating in Drive @approx 1400-1800rpm.. It is not a nice noise but Mercedes says it is normal. It sound rattling lie something will fall off the car. Does anyone have a similar problem?
I tried a new one yesterday and the noise is 10% of what mine has. MB says it is because the mileage is much more.. i think 9000 miles is not a lot for a car like this.
Now i see i am not the only one. MB told me yesterday that if enough people complain they will have to so something about to.. I am new to the forum. Have many people had t a similar problem? thank you
