guys, just out of curiousity, does anyone know of a place where they would re-leather seats in different colour?? anyone has ideas of where it could be done and approximately how much im looking at...im thinking of red leather.
cheers

Can't recommend anywhere specific , but there are lots of trimmers all over the country , mostly active in restoring classic cars . Prices vary greatly , as does the quality of work done , anything from a few hundred to a few thousand . Ask to see something they have done before handing your car over .

There are certainly specialists in Germany who will supply leather in the correct original materials for classic Mercedes-Benz cars , KHM are a good example , they do not list anything as modern as a W124 but may be able to help . Here is a link to their website -

If it wasn't that red is a fairly 'unusual' colour these days ( wasn't always ) , I'd suggest having a look round some of the breakers to see if you can find a car with the interior you want : 'mushroom' leather , grey leather , black leather are all quite common for 124 cars and not too difficult to find .

New seat covers can always be ordered from Mercedes ( at a price ) .

The local car re-trimmer charges 3 x what the local sofa / chair upholstery re-coverer guy charges for the same thing, as far as I can tell having had repair work done by both.

Worth investigating?

If the leather is good & you just want a different colour why not connollise(sp?) them?

An 'MB-Owners Club member had a complete re-cover done to his CLK last year and it was featured in the club Gazette. Coincidently in Man United red.:bannana: Since I'm looking at doing the same to the 211 I've been in touch with Autotrimmers in Warrington who did the job, told them I wanted samples of soft 'Analine' type leather in dark blue and a price. They sent swatches of just about every colour except blue in the roughest leather ever and no price indication. Further contact proved fruitless so discount this company. (Now taken over by and called Trimtechnik).
I've been in touch with Kelvin Coachtrimmers in Glasgow and they say in IRO £1200 for 5 seats and doorcards. I've to phone them late Jan and am probably going to proceed if this price is confirmed.

Furniture leather and car leather are two different things altogether...

There are re trimmers all over the place... Nearest to you would be the guys that did KLP_92's car...

p.s. price I would expect to pay at somewhere like D class would be £1500-2500 depending on how far you go.... door cards, headlining etc..

I had my shelby interior completely re-done few months ago the guy supplied everything paid about £3000 all in, done a amazing job he's not to far from in down the A3 Cobham.

thanks alot for all the help guys.
I think anything around £1000 is reasonable,i already have black leather and even after 15 years, its in mint condition,as you can tell MB used good quality hard leather...

last year i saw a 230CE white with red leather up for sale for £1500,i should have bought it..gutted,but i guess i will keep looking until i find somewhere where they would use good quality leather and for a reasonable price.

My TT is silver, but it will soon have a new paintjob,to diamond black and i think red leather would look better than black leather,or isit only on modern cars?
