R231

Well, after a couple of weeks were everything seemed to conspire against me ever collecting this, I've finally managed it. I collected it yesterday(Saturday). I travelled by train to Euston, then a taxi to the garage.(1 hr) I left London about 4.15pm and did 242 miles in 4hrs 10mins @ 37mpg. The driving position felt very uncomfortable at first, very different to my CLK, but by the time I hit the M40 I was fine. The traffic was extremely light, but the weather was pretty grim. Heavy rain for most of the trip. I had a stop for fuel at Oxford and a natural break at Charnock Richard, home just after 8pm.
The car is absolutely superb to drive and so comfortable, I could have carried on to Scotland!! I love it!!
A couple of minor problems but nothing a browse through the handbook won't fix ( I hope) , if not I'll be back on here :).
Here's a couple of pics.

Cheers
John

Very nice indeed. Love the interior, had an SLK 55 with cream leather and walnut trim, loved it but I am at that age .

Congratulations ! Love that spec combined with that 42k on the clock

These cars are such crazy bargains, coming, as they usually do, from a pampered, low mileage existence.

Keep us updated on the fettling and settling in !

Lovely looking car, I suspect many envious eyes in the future.
Stop for fuel?
Surely you negotiated a full tank as part of the transaction?

A full tank??? I didn't even get a cup of coffee and that was after a over 6 hrs travelling. I'll be dealing with that aspect of the sale in later posts, but the 42000 wasn't correct.

I am however, delighted with the car so far and have spent a pleasant day transferring my music stuff and updating the sat nav with my address book. Quiz night at the golf club tomorrow night, so some raised eyebrows from pals expecting the blue CLK cab!! ;)
