Rear folding seats - fault

CLS 350 AMG shooting brake (2013 218)
The right hand rear folding seat in my 2013 CLS shooting brake will not fold down. I can hear the electric actuator operating when I pull the handle in the boot but the latch does not release.
Has anyone experience of this problem, and how easy it is to fix?

I didn't know it was operated electrically, I thought it was a cable, hence I was going to suggest the cable had possibly dis-engaged or broken.

Having said that, mine is not a SB but a CLS none the less.

There’s a brief whirring sound when the release handle is pulled. I may have to figure out how to remove the seat in order to investigate? I can’t see the latch by pulling the edge of the backrest to one side

Abb it looks like you are correct. The electrical actuator is the one that drops the headrests - and that works, so the cable must be operating that, but not releasing the mechanical seat latch. I just can't figure out how to access it without being able to release the seat back!

Are the seatbelts free, ie not fastened as in after an MOT, they may be enough to stop the seat falling using only gravity.

Yes they are free... I’ve tried jiggling the seatback while pulling on the release handle, but I can feel it is still being held by the latch

Did u ever get this sorted? i just bought a CLS500 and both my rear seats are stucked the actuator is working but latch wont release.

Hi. Did anyone have a fix for this? I have the same problem and I know it will cost me at least £150 plus parts at my local garage for a job I am sure I could do myself.
