I have a W220 S500 and there is soft knocking noise coming from the rear left (inside the car only).
First thought it might be the spare wheel and tools but all are tightened in place.
Had the mechanic have a look at the suspension, including rear stabiliser links, suspension arms and subframe mounts.
All seemed to be still in good shape apart from the subframe mounts. I did get them changed but noise is still here. I did get the rear airmatic shocks replaced very recently as well.
The noise is a soft knocking noise which comes only when driving on rough surfaces and potholes. Makes the same noise as a broken stabiliser link. Seems like something is loose.
The noise comes behind the headrest. So mainly from the upper region.
Would appreciate if you guys could help.
