Rear Subframe

I had my 2011 E350 rear subframe replaced for goodwill plus about £150 in bits and pieces that weren't covered by the goodwill apparently. Some people pay more, others pay nothing. But to your point, I definitely have nothing like full service history. I could guess my car hasn't been to a Merc dealer in 5 or more years. But, I do use an independent specialist who uploads the work they do to the Merc digital service book, so they do at least have a record that my car has been serviced.

Our 2005 R171 was done FoC in late 2021. It did have full history but not all with MB.

Hi do I need MB full service history to have corroded rear subframe replacing
I suppose what I’m saying is in my mind it shouldn’t really matter if it has full MB service history or not because this wouldn’t have stopped the corrosion procedure anyway, I have contacted my local MB dealer to arrange a check they didn’t mention about service history and they do have reg number. Any thoughts much appreciated

The subframe is technically an appendage and as such not covered by the anti perforation warranty.

In the UK at least, MB never officially acknowledged that there's an issue with some subframes, which is why repairs are carried out under 'goodwill warranty'.

This technicality allows MB to potentially attach any conditions they like, whether sensible or not.

But they'll be fools to let the matter get to court and risk a verdict against them.... so most likely they'll just continue with their 'goodwill warranty'.

As far as I know, in America MB USA were forced to issue an official recall. I doubt they'll let it happen here in the UK.
