Hi Guys, i am looking into a remap, Ecotune can get me up to 300BHP and remove the ERG valve within the ECU, has anyone had this done on E350 or similar, how's the result.

i believe the ERG removal increases mpg and allows engine to perform better

any thoughts

I've no personal experience but it is the 'EGR' valve (Exhaust Gas-Recirculation).

I had the EGR software delete done on my C350 CDI along with a remap, it doesn't appear to affect mpg at all.

Scoob.

Have you done this yet ? Eco tune don't get good reviews in Glasgow.

Do we not need to remove EGR's physically from our car or is it just software only? Im abit clueless on this subject.

The EGR is a valve controlled by the ecu and can be controlled from 0 to 100% in the maps contained in the ECU.

A 'soft' EGR off is the map being closed at all times at the point of remapping with the EGR still left in place. A 'hard' EGR off is the EGR physically blocked or removed and the routines are removed from the ECU.

Personally I would not close an EGR with a DPF still fitted to the car as it effects the warm up routines of the engines. But that's just me.

265bhp to 310bhp and 720nm is no problem on these providing the DPF is in good health.

Hi harry, not done yet, still reserching and i will now look a bit more closley at Eco Tune,

BFT where are you based, what the real advantages of having the EGR " disengaged" through the remap

Go to konzeptautohaus in Clydebank they specialise in merc remapping. I had all 3 of my 320 Cdi's done there and my friends have had their 350s done with super results. My neighbours C63 was done by them and it's even more of a beast now.

We are based in North Yorkshire as BFT as well as in Birmingham through MSL.

Personally on the newer engines I wouldn't disengage the EGR without the DPF being removed. Which on the 265bhp we are still battling I will be honest.

The newer engines run much cleaner that the older!

Hi John,
I was thinking about a Remap and DPF removal, are there any pitfalls in doing this on my 2011 S350 CDI Bluetec? I was also interested in getting the Add blue system disabled at the same time, does your company also do this service? or is this a bad thing to do?.

Thanks for any reply.

Alfie

Hi Alfie,

The 265bhp DPF removal has been a nightmare in getting the software sorted and got a test car running at the moment on this one at present! So watch this space!

But is it beneficial to have them removed on this engine as I've heard they are very high flowing.

They flow well, but I would be pushed to say they are high flowing.

All depends how hard you want to push the car? Personally if you drive it on the motorways and get it cleaning regularly, then it's fine for most people. But all depends what you want from the car?

How far car you go with them then because I've never seen one over 320-330bhp?
