Can anyone please recommend a good product, for removing the shine from a steering wheel, I’d like to get mine back to something like it was when new, I’ve used armour all matte finish wipes, which do work slightly. Thanks.

After putting an old towel over my legs/seat I use mild G101 and a magic eraser to scrub off the oils, and creams (and food) that creates that sheeny shine.

It's a bit messy but it is a layer of crud that needs 'lifting'

Some use a conditioner or sealant on it if it's leather as that will also stop hands becoming all dyed up

I'm bound to be doing it wrong, but after 10 mins tops, it's done for a while

wet wipes will take out of the stubborn dirt of, give it a good scrub with them. use some leather cleaner after.

Depends if its a plastic or leather steering wheel.

Leather steering wheel: tiny amounts of autoglym leather cleaner, a microfibres cloth and then a polishing cloth
(Especially if you've for hand cream or sun screen deposits)
While you're at it, a quick wipe of creases in leather or faux leather seats "spruces" them up.
But only a little, not too much. Better to apply twice than once too much.

Plastic steering wheel: baby wipes or weak soapy mix. You're just removing muck.

In general, wiping down more regularly - once a month - keeps everything under control.

Thanks for the replies, it’s leather btw, didn’t think you could get a Merc with a plastic wheel, although I did know fake leather seats are available, thankfully I have the optional napa leather.

Mercedes Benz began using "fake leather," specifically called "MB-Tex," in their vehicles as early as the 1960s on many of their base trim models, with the 280SE (W108) being a notable example where MB-Tex was used on seats and door trim. Nowadays its pretty much everything. My 2010 E is real leather.....my 2013 friends facelift one isnt....and its pretty obvious too. I wouldn't want it.

Steam clean or very hot water and a cloth will take off the majority of the dirt/deposits that cause this.

Napa leather seats: for sure. But are you sure your steering wheel is leather? Some certainly aren't. (Not challenging, just asking)

Yes, it’s all in the build sheet, the napa was a nearly £600 extra, quite a bargain imho. MB-Tex? or vinyl, as we use to call it. 😆
