If I was to ever have the mid box / boxes replaced by a s.steel pipe (silencer removal or resonator delete as it's commonly referred to) but leave the back cats in place, does anyone know if this would risk damage to the pesky box (or other sensors?)

I believe it wouldn't trigger an MOT issue on noise (not touching the rear or front cats), but having just had to fork out for sensor and a STAR recode, I'd be mightily peeved if I hadn't considered this

Advice or confirmation appreciated

Cheers

Cheers both

Now to find those pennies......

Ps "pesky box" was nox sensor

Auto correct - go figure...:wallbash:

Yup - the impact on noise levels is normally pretty slight. MB back boxes are generally very effective.

That's what I want to understand by getting it up on a ramp with an exhaust firm.

Torque flow (recommended, I know) are a bit of a way for me given I am not looking for a full bespoke system, but I do want to get a professionals view so will drop into the Power flow agent in Southampton on Monday on my way up country to get a view on the aural benefit I will receive given the rest of the system.

On the CLK it was a noticeable difference / improvement under load but the E class does have different and twin design pipes so it will be interesting to get an informed view if its going to be worthwhile

And then the debate of decent mild steel or stainless steel of course.....
