Hi all,
I got Original Roof racks for W124 from ebay.de,they are in very good condition, unfortunately they came with no user manual.
My problem is the place of the mount of the roof racks, roof racks have 4 mounts two on every rack,I don't know where to put these mounts,is it outside the roof strap (the black strap in the roof) ? or inside the roof strap? or on the roof strap? I forgot to have some photos to explain what I mean, but I'll take some photos and post them soon.
Thanks

If the design is the same as on the W124CE then the roof bars bolt into the little holes in the middle of the strips under the little flaps.

Needs a picture really to describe what I mean. I'll see if I can find one.

Ahh found it, it should go like this. One roof bar is slightly longer than the other and they also have a left and right hand side.

Hi All,
am planning to put a load that may exceed 100kg,(will travel to my country by car this summer and am planning ahead).
is that ok with the racks or not? written on it max 100kg.

You still got those racks spike? May be interested for the 500E.

Charles Morgan had mine off me - not sure if they went with his coupe when he sold it on or not.

>subZero The rubber feet on mine were attached to the rack. You can always make something up by cutting up an old inner tube and bonding it to the base of the rack or just position it there and let the pressure of the feet hold it in place. I think the feet of your rack should rest on the metal strip (same as mine) but you probably need to work out which rack goes where as they are likely to be different lengths.

Not sure if you have the correct roof rack for your car or not. What make and model is it? You may find you can adjust the position of the feet. As SPIKE says the load bearing feet should rest on the black metal strip as this is the part of the roof designed to take the extra weight of any roof rack. If not the general principle would be as close to the edge of the roof as practical. I would not exceed the recommended weight by much [ say +25% max] if at all and at your own risk ????and only if you can position the rack in the correct load bearing section of the roof! Remember also to pump up the tyres to accommodate any extra loading on the car.

I bought them from ebay.de ,the guy told me they are for W124 Sedan.
The roof racks are for all W124 Sedan models.
You are right,I can adjust the position of the feet, they are adjustable.
So unanimously it is on the black metal strip.
I'll adjust them and update you.
If anyone has the user manual for these racks,he should know.
Thanks for all.

Sp!ke...I think they are the same length,I'll check and tell you.

Hi,
Again sorry for the delay.
Sp!ke,you are right, they have different lengthes,I put the longer bar on the front as the distance between the straps is longer(hope this is the correct guess).
Here are some pics.
Thanks for the help.
