Merc W124 1995 Estate
Hi All, I'm a new member and hope someone out there can help. I have a 95 E200 estate 124 model petrol. 4 weeks ago my mechanic changed wiper motor and electric window reregulator. Everything was ok but next time we went to start the car.................. nothing. The immobiliser cut in and car wont start. We seem to have tried everything but to no avail. Disconnected the battery for 24 hours that didn't work. Opened and closed the door using the key ... no good. There's a green/red lcd on drivers door and boot lid and they're dead. If I take it to a main dealer the bill will be more than the car is worth. Thanks in advance

Hi there and welcome :)

Sorry to hear of your problems. As a start, does the car lock/unlock with the remote central locking?

Do you have more than one key you can try (I take it they are the flick-out infra-red type?)

Cars with the ATA (Anti Theft) system have a brain in the n/s/f footwell. That's the place to bypass the immobiliser

Thanks for that I'll check it out when the thaw sets in

Hi Will
The key will manually lock/unlock all doors via passenger door or boot lid. The remote itself is working ( I can see red light ) but there is nothing happening with the sensors in door handles - drivers or boot lid..

Have you tried doing a key synchronisation according to the handbook ???
